| 1. The DeviGenes A small percentage of Earth's populace are born with a DGP - a deviant gene pattern. This alteration to their genetic code causes them display paranormal traits and/or abilities. In many, these abilities - individually referred to as a devigene flux - are often minimal. Most DGPs (or DeviGenes) have such minute abilities they often go unrecognized. Their fluxes could be they have a slight ESP (which may go on unnoticed as simply severe deja vu) or it could be slightly above average eyesight. But in almost a quarter of the known cases, their flux is much more noticeable. One's devigene flux is never a physical abomination. All fluxes are derived from one's own psychic abilities. And in turn, DeviGenes also show greater power when amongst other DeviGenes - they essentially feed off one anothers inert devigene energies. 2. NAPREC NAPREC stands for North American Population Regulation and Ethical Control. It is a militant government faction that practically runs North America. Culled from the remnants of the American, Canadian and Mexican government agencies, it is similar in many ways to the former CIA of the United States. Run by the tyrannical General Norman Docker, NAPREC seeks to create its own diabolical utopia. One where it has ultimate control of sociological thinking. At present, NAPREC's biggest threat to creating the illusion of order is that of the rapidly rising rate of DeviGenes amongst its populace. 3. The Dimensions The world of 'UrBaN DeCaY' is spread amongst three primary dimensions. Each intertwining with each other, although one is unaware (in the physical sense) of the other two, and the other two are uninterested in the third. The first dimension is MUNDANE. This is the dimension that 99% of its inhabitants refer to as 'Earth'. The dimension is so-called Mundane due to the fact that its creators - the principles of the other two dimensions - have deemed it rather boring in comparison. It was created more as a gestation dimension to create its life energies. When a life force from Mundane expires, they are either re-routed to Aurora or Grimoire to fully experience their existence. Almost all Mundane life experiences are erased from their memories when they arrive in their new dimension of residence. The second dimension is AURORA. This is the dimension that most Mundanians refer to as 'Heaven'. It is a dimension of such intense light that if a normal Mundanian where ever to see it (not that that is very likely) they would be blinded instantly and the intensity would not only burn out their eyes but probably disintegrate their brains as well. Inhabitants of this dimension are known as Seraphims, though again, Mundanians call them something else - 'Angels'. And Aurora is presided over by the energy being known as The Almighty Marduk. The Mundanians have labelled him simply as 'God'. The final dimension is called GRIMOIRE. This is the realm often referred to by Mundanians as 'Hell'. It is a dark place, though not quite as 'fire and brimstone' as many Mundanian theologians would have you believe. It is a pure chaotic place in design only, as its inhabitants - the Leviathans (or Demons) - are ruled with great ability by the lord of darkness, Suhrim (often referred to as Satan or any number of titles). 4. Dimensional Transfer Often, if a Seraphim disobeys Marduk's Law in Aurora, they are banished from the dimension and sent to learn discipline at the hands of Suhrim in Grimoire. To do this, there energy is transferred through Mundane. In order to pass this way, the outcast Seraphim must pass through a human host. The Seraphim High Court will choose a Mundanian it deems already off the path to Aurora and transfers the banished Seraphim's energy through this Mundanian. The result is that the banished Seraphim is sent to Grimoire, where it is transferred into a Leviathan, and the human host's soul is more or less thrown back into the melting pot to be reincarnated in order to try again. But again, Mundanian theologians are only flattering the Seraphims by assuming these 'holy' beings know and see all. They have yet to discover a terrible flaw in this transfer system. For some unknown reason, many Mundanians are developing these devigene flux phenomena. This is something that even the Seraphims, Leviathans, and Marduk and Suhrim themselves, are a little in the dark over. And this devigene flux pattern can cause havoc on the transfer. Seraphim High Court can not distinguish a normal Mundanian with a Devigene. So in some very remote cases, a devigene has acted as the transfer host. This often causes powerful consequences. The transfer of this interdimensional energy causes the devigene's flux to overload. Often the devigene dies by a massive energy burnout, but for those who live, their power is great. And the Seraphim or Leviathan being transferred emerges in physical form in a mock pseudo form of the being he was being sent to become. That was the case in question of Obsidian Shade and Syth. But you'll have to read the comic to find out THAT story... |
